Content
The course "Privacy in the light of Cybersecurity and Digitalization" aims to provide knowledge, introduce key themes and basic concepts relating to online privacy. We will see how privacy is becoming a growing concern for individuals, organizations, and the society. The course is theme-based, and each week we will cover a different theme, such as social media, artificial intelligence, regulatory compliance, etc. Students will be expected to attend lectures, undertake assignments, and read key texts recommended for the course.


Completion methods
The course consists of lectures, case studies, quizzes, presentations, and a final exam. To complete the course the students need to:


• Attend the lectures
• Complete the online quizzes and case study
• Complete final examination


The case exercises are real life scenarios highlighting privacy concerns. In groups of 5-6 (depending on the number of participants), students will choose a case for analysis. This will be followed by a presentation of the group’s analysis.


Assessment details
Online quizzes & case presentation (60%) + final exam (40%)

Understanding privacy issues at the individual, organizational and social levels.
Understanding privacy issues around developments in social media, artificial intelligence and healthcare technology, among others.
Developing analytical skills through real life case studies in privacy.

Description of prerequisites

This course assumes that you have completed your bachelor’s studies and are doing your master’s or doctoral studies. Although not a prerequisite, it is recommended that you have completed the Information Security Management course (TJTSM51).

Study materials

Study materials will be a combination of academic articles and other materials available online, including, industry reports, news articles, and online videos.
