Content
The course deals with applied research on cultures. Students focus on how cultural research provides solutions to social problems.
Completion methods
Taught course or independent work (book exam, reading group or assignment).
Assessment criteria
80% participation in teaching and written assignments or lecture exam. Completion by independent study – essay or book exam.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will:
- know the principles and purpose of cultural research
- be aware of contemporary societal challenges and social, cultural and economic problems (such as inequality, poverty, environmental problems, political and religious conflicts, unemployment, human rights violations and cultural heritage issues) and
- be able to apply research conducted at KUMU and their own competence to solve practical problems.
