Description
Course focuses on:
- theoretical basis of thermal analysis methods including thermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry, differential thermal analysis and hyphenated techniques
- instrumentation of above methods on tehcnical level
- analysis examples
- interpretation of analysis data.
Learning outcomes
After successfully completion of the course, the student:
- is familiar with the theoretical basis of thermogravimetry (TG), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and analysis techniques related to them,
- understands the existence of various sample and instrument originating parameters that may effect to measuring conditions,
- understands how the above parameters may influence to the quality and accuracy of the recorded data, and realize how these parameters should be controlled in order to acquire good quality data
- understands the basics of interpreting both TG and DSC data.
Working life skills
- Enables the utilization of termoanalytical methods for investigating temperature dependent properties of various materials.
- Communication skills: Improves smal group working skills.
- Presentation skills: Improves presentation skills and preparation of presentation materials via small group seminar.
