Description

Pupils’ and students’ understanding of the concepts and theories of mechanics, optics , waves, thermodynamics and electricity and the basic theories of these branches of physics  

Learning outcomes

On completion of this study module students will be able to

  • analyse physics concepts and theories from the perspective of learning

  • describe common pupil misconceptions in the different branches of secondary school physics

  • take pupils’ misconceptions into account when planning teaching with the aim of helping pupils to achieve more coherent scientific way of thinking.

Students are expected to achieve the learning goals of physics basic and subject studies
