Contents:

This course is focused on the enterprise practices, models and frameworks of the sustainability issues in the local or regional context. Such enterprises include businesses, governments and nonprofit organizations as stakeholders of sustainability. The course develops understanding on creation; growth and management of sustainability practices in enterprises which are keen to bring about significant change in emerging market contexts. With its higher focus on business enterprises, it develops an appreciative view about the potential roles for businesses in creating “shared value” through innovation that not only benefits societies but also enhances corporate profits, creates jobs, enhances environmental protection and brings a social change. The course aspires to create critical view about how differently enterprises adapt to the socio-economic background in a developing country and develop a mutually beneficial model to contribute or transform society. It will consider a range of strategic and tactical issues including stakeholder theory, cross-sector collaborations and the special challenges inherent in seeking effectiveness and efficiency in such enterprises and measuring their corporate responsibility and social impact.

This course provides an introduction to how an enterprise can adapt and align with all or some of the UN Sustainable Development Goals in emerging markets.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, student will be able to understand:

· Development strategic and tactical understanding to create value in business through sustainability, and development agenda?
