Working in a research group

Description

Content

Unpaid work in a research group of the department. Based on own interest student each student will create an individual learning task list together with the group leader. After finishing the course the student will write a course report of the work. This work cannot be directly linked to the student’s own master’s thesis.

Completion methods

Before starting the work, the student writes a learning task list which is agreed with the course teacher. After finishing the work the student will write a training report. Course can be done in 2-5 ECTS . One month’s work is equivalent of 5 ECTS including the training report.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student:
  • has got familiar with the research conducted at the University of Jyväskylä
  • can describe the basic principles of the research conducted at the research group
  • has gained systematic and ethical working habits 
  • has attained new skills which could be related to collecting, handling or analyzing the data

Additional information

The working in a research group can be done at any stage of the studies. The work cannot be part of the student’s own thesis or thesis data collection.
