Content

During the course students will activate their language skills especially in oral communication and listening. Students practice using Finnish in a more spontaneous and fluent way in different situations. The themes for the course will be collectively agreed upon at the beginning.

Completion methods

Speaking and speech comprehension will be practiced in different kinds of pair and group conversation exercises. In addition, the discussion topics that arise during the course exercises will be addressed collectively. Communication and authentic speech comprehension will also be practiced outside of the contact hours in the form of homework assignments. Students will also vlog weekly and have assigments concerning them. At the end of the course, the students will complete a larger course work.

Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is that students will be encouraged and be able to use Finnish in different everyday and semi-official situations. The student will also be able to speak about and discuss a somewhat abstract topic of his/her own interest when s/he has prepared in advance. Students will also learn self-assessment methods for their own speaking and speech comprehension and how to give peer feedback to their fellow students.
