Description

The Academic Literacy Skills course is intended for students of the Integra programme possessing a B2 level of English or higher. On this course, students will develop the fundamental communication and study skills needed for their future academic studies.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, learners will:

  • have developed skills and strategies required for reading various academic text genres

  • have learnt to critically evaluate texts and identify types of academic reporting and argumentation

  • be able to recognise basic features of academic texts and produce texts according to academic conventions

  • be able to communicate and interact competently in various academic and workplace situations, using a variety of communicative and compensatory strategies

  • have developed independent academic skills, such as building field-specific vocabulary and locating reliable sources of information

  • be familiar with and use various resources to facilitate and support the above

  • have developed skills to work purposefully in teams, negotiating to complete tasks and building on the contributions of others
