Description

Practice the basic motor skills (balance, timing, sliding) of skiing.
Practice basic principles of classic and skating styles of skiing and is able to use those in various terrain.
Work for enjoyment in winter sport and cross-country skiing.
Health benefits of cross-country skiing.
Skiing and hiking knowing the safety rules of the tracks.

Lectures (2 hours), practical exercises (16 h).

Assessment details

Participation in lesson and practical exercises, 50 %, skiing skills 25 %, class activity 25 %

Presence in all lessons is required for completing the course. The student will be assessed on the basis of active participation, group behaviour and positive attitude towards the subject to be taught, the teacher and other course participants during the lessons.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, student

  • knows the elements of the enjoyment of the movement on the snow with skis.
  • knows and uses classic and skating skiing techniques in various terrains.
  • uses interaction skills with other students in winter sport environment.

Additional information

Maximum group size is 20 students. Equipment: Students have to rent and pay the equipment needed themselves. The equipment needed can be rent at Laajavuori Skiing Center, ?? euros/class.
