KUMP1005 Introduction to Theory (5 cr)
Taught course. Independent work on written assignments is possible in special cases.
The course deals with the history of ethnology and anthropology, including changes in research methods and subjects.
80% participation in teaching and written assignments. Independent work on written assignments or book exam.
After completing the course, the student will:
- be familiar with the key research and theoretical traditions influencing the history and present of ethnology, anthropology, cultural policy and related disciplines
- be able to place classics and research directions in the context of the development of the discipline and
- be able to understand the current research within the theory tradition of the discipline.
The course coordinator will refer students to learning material. The compulsory book for the book exam is:

and another book selected from the list below:
