Description
Written thesis for the Master's degree in Philosophy, which includes a
written and experimental part. The topics are based on research carried
out at the department or external topics, eg from industry. The purpose
of this thesis is to demonstrate scientific knowledge with the topic of
research, literature search, the use and analysis of research material,
and the preparation of an independent scientific report in accordance
with the thesis writing guidelines. In addition, the student is able to
work independently in the laboratory and with the measurement techniques
required by the research topic. The subject teacher will study the
research topic related to chemistry learning. Research methods utilize
teaching methods that are suitable for research questions.
Completion of Master's thesis includes oral reporting on the research topic at the department's Master's thesis seminar. During a research seminar, the student will give about 10 minutes presentation of his / her research topic.
Learning outcomes
After completing the Master's thesis, the student masters the subject area of the thesis and is able to plan, implement and report on his or her research in accordance with the scientific practice in the field. The student; is able to formulate a research problem and define a research topic, is able to obtain relevant information from publications in the field, is able to reasonably frame the material and evaluate it critically. The student; masters the different stages of research, is able to choose the right research methods and apply them reasonably to his / her research topic. The student masters chemical research methods in the field, is able to independently use experimental measuring instruments in the field of study and is able to analyze the research results and relate them to existing knowledge. In addition, the development of pedagogical subject management is one of the learning objectives of the subject teacher. The student is able to research and find out how to learn and understand chemistry in teaching work.
Additional information
The course is available onfy during the academic year 2020-2021 for those who need it.
Description of prerequisites
It is good to complete advanced studies in chemistry as much as possible before you start to do Master's Thesis.
