KEMS541 Advanced Course in Organic Chemistry (6 cr)

Nucleophiles and electrophiles, carbonyl chemistry (revision), conformational analysis, nucleophilic and electrophilic reactivity in saturated and unsaturated systems, prediction of selectivity, enolate chemistry and conjugate additions, radical chemistry, pericyclic reactions, transition metal-catalyzed reactions in e.g. coupling reactions.

• be able to use key terms and concepts in organic chemistry
• understand the structure-reactivity relationships in organic reactivity on the basis of different models
• understand the basics of conformational analysis
• master mechanistic models for different reaction types
• know the key reactions and methods used in organic chemistry.
