Description
The course focuses on the history of medicine and health, and introduces students to the meanings of health and disease.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will:
- be familiar with the main concepts and theories of the history of medicine
- be familiar with the development of key medical and healthcare institutions
- understand the definition and development of health and well-being and their connections to the wider development of the welfare state
- understand the cultural meanings and connections of health and illness
- have honed their skills in analysing information and critical thinking.
