Description
The course focuses on the major development lines of political history and international relations, the meanings of culture and language in historical research, and comparative research.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will:
- be familiar with the key events, crises and lines of development of European and North American political history in particular, as well as their role from the eighteenth century to the present day
- understand the importance of culture, language, materiality, space and mobility, for research in political history
- have an understanding of the history of international relations, particularly in the twentieth century
- have an understanding of comparative and transnational perspectives in political history research research
- be used to reading historical research literature, at least in Finnish and English
- have practised contextualising and analysing political history sources
- have honed their skills in teamwork, analysing information and critical thinking.
