Description

Development of physics from antiquities to modern times; analysis of important breakthroughs (e.g. scientific revolution, emergence of modern physics); development of fundamental concepts and understanding of phenomena. 

Learning outcomes

After completig the sudy unit the student can describe the historical roots of physics in natural philosophy, discuss the development of different fields of physics and the role of physics in natural sciences as well as the nature of physical knowledge and how knowledge of physics develops and increases. 

Description of prerequisites

Basic studies in physics and the courses FYSA2001-FYSA2002 Modern Physics, parts A&B or equivalent.
