Study level:
Advanced studies
Grading scale:
Pass - fail
Language:

Responsible organisation:
Department of Physics
Curriculum periods:
2020-2021, 2021-2022, 2022-2023

Description

  • Introduction to various nuclear models and their theoretical concepts

  • Strengths and weaknesses of various models

  • Use of nuclear models in the interpretation of experimental data

  • Experimental data for nuclear models

Learning outcomes

After the course the student is able to

  • Identify basic nuclear properties and to explain main features of their theoretical descriptions

  • Outline what are the key experimental observables and what input they can provide for theoretical models

  • What constraints and limitations various theoretical models possess and how they can explain measured data

  • These topics will be discussed (mainly) from the perspective of experimental techniques employed in the JYFL accelerator laboratory.
