Description

The course is about identification, conservation and ecology of polypores and other wood-inhabiting fungi. Three days are spent on a field trip to both primaeval and managed forests. 

Learning outcomes

The student learns to use polypores as an indicator group reflecting both the history and current condition of the forest. Student also learns to identify the most common boreal polypore species as well the most important indicator species. Student also learns to evaluate his/her own identification skills critically.
