Evolutionary Genetics

Description

The course will introduce students to the use of genetic data in research in ecology and evolutionary biology. Hands-on exercises and small projects to analyze and interpret data using computer programs are used. Topics include population genetics and diversity, phylogenetic analyses, molecular evolution. The course develops critical thinking and emphasizes data management and open science principles. 


Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student:
  • is able to apply analysis methods to genetic data
  • understands the basis of the used methods and their relevance to research in ecology and evolutionary biology
  • is able to critically interpret results

BENA2008 Bioinformatics; BENA2024 Population Genetics or equivalent
