Description
The course introduces the general philosophy of experimental design and compares the other study methods to experimental method. General design of experiments in the different areas of ecology and evolutionary biology from genes to ecosystems. Practical designing of the experimental tests.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student:
- understands the significance of experiments for scientific research.
- is able to formulate hypothesis and deduce predictions and questions from the hypothesis
- is able to plan ecological and evolutionary biology experiments
- analyse the main weaknesses and constrains of the experimental method and know how to solve them
Description of prerequisites
Master's level course, BSc or equivalent.
