Description

Social context of bilingual development, speech perception and phonological development, early oral language trajectories, the development of literacy, methods of research and assessment, metalinguistic and cognitive consequences of bilingualism, second language acquisition, and the critical period hypothesis.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course the students will

-understand the complex transactions of individual, social and contextual factors in language development

-become familiar with current research trends regarding bilingual development
