The aim of the course is to advance understanding of neuromuscular system function through different mechanisms of adaptation.

Description

The course is particularly focused on neural, muscular and tendinous adaptation to acute loading, long-term training and aging.
Neuromuscular adaptation within the following context:

· Muscular fatigue and recovery

· Strength-, speed-, and skill-training

· Aging

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the student…

- has advanced understanding mechanisms of adaptation within the neuromuscular system

- understands and is able to apply biomechanical research methods to study and interpret findings of acute and chronic adaptations within the neuromuscular system

- is able to critically interpret literature of this field

- is able to apply the above information into practical training for various target groups/populations

Additional information

Distance teaching. Active participation in lectures and small group work, as well as lab practice and reporting. Lecture and literature exam. Literature is examined in the Spring and Autumn term during general and field-specific exam dates.

Description of prerequisites

Bachelor in Sport and Exercise science or related field.
