Tweet text

This course advances understanding of human motor control functioning, as well as structural aspects of the brain.

Description

The structure and function of the brain’s sensorimotor system.

Fundamental functioning of motor control.

Fundamentals of brain imaging (MEG/EEG, TMS, fMRI).

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the student

- understands fundamentals of human motor control and its relation from a perspective of the structure of the brain, as well as the sensory systems role in motor control.

- understands the function of various brain imaging methodology and how they can be applied to study the human sensorimotor system.

- is able to critically evaluate brain imaging study designs.

- is able to work responsibly as a member of a team and self-assess their work.

Additional information

The course introduces various brain imaging methods, particularly fundamentals of magnetoencephalography (MEG), electroencephalography (EEG), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in the study of sensorimotor functioning.
