Description
Contemporary Issues in Psychology (CIP, 25 ECTS) focuses on the contemporary research and clinical practices in the field of psychology. Furthermore, it provides the students information about the current research at the Department of Psychology, University of Jyväskylä (JYU). Stu-dents will have an opportunity to participate in lectures given by international researchers, visit-ing scholars, as well as teachers at the Department. Studies consist of lectures and/or seminars. Contemporary Issues in Psychology (CIP, 25 ECTS) will be delivered in English.
Learning outcomes
After completing the CIP studies the students will understand the current trends in different fields of research and practice in psychology, and have basic knowledge of factors affecting psychological well-being, cognitive functions, and the nervous system, among others.

Target groups:
(a) Foreign students visiting Jyväskylä University (JYU), who are either studying psychology as their major subject at their home university or have completed at least one year of studies in psychology at their home institution, (b) Finnish-speaking students who have psychology as their major or minor subject at the University of Jyväskylä and have completed basic studies in psychology and (c) postgraduate students at the University of Jyväskylä.
Students have two alternative ways of completing their CIP studies. (1) They can study individual courses depending on their personal interests or needs of their study program. (2) Alternatively, they can choose a minimum of 25 ECTS from CIP courses to form a minor studies entity.
