Description

Content

Students get used to reading different texts and text types related to everyday activities and life situations. They also learn new ways of developing their language skills by reading.

Completion methods

Finnish texts are analysed and discussed on the course. The texts include assignments that support their understanding and facilitate the training of strategies. The assignments are completed individually or in pairs or groups. The students participate in selecting the course texts in order to ensure that they are meaningful for them.

Assessment details

Completion of the course requires active participation and attendance as well as completion of homework. Assessment is based on continuous assessment, self-assessment and the completion of assignments within the agreed schedule.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the students will have developed their reading strategies and have more confidence to read Finnish texts and find information in different types of texts. They will understand predictable information and can form an overall idea of texts on familiar subjects.
