Content

This module focuses on scientific articles: their types, structure, and writing processes and strategies. We will also discuss the article publishing process, looking at the roles and expectations of different parties involved (the writer, editor, referee, reader) and process stages (such as choosing a journal or responding to reviewers’ comments). Module participants will work on their article manuscript and publication plan, and will give and receive feedback on own and others’ texts.

Completion methods

Mode of work: group discussions, small group work and independent work. Assignments: a pre-task, work on own manuscript and publication plan, peer feedback.

Assessment details

Compulsory and active participation. Successful completion of core assignments. Final grading is based on the applicable grading scale for the course.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the participants are expected to be familiar with article publication process, understand the norms of writing scientific articles and know how to adapt these to their article writing process, have developed a writing and publication plan for their own manuscript(s), know how to give and receive constructive feedback on work in progres
