Learning outcomes
By the end of this course a student should know the objectives and obligations of legislative assessment, monitoring and management of the ecological condition of surface waters, particularly in Europe. She/he understands the principles, problems and uncertainties of measurement, classification and monitoring of the ecological status, and gets familiar with the associated Finnish procedures in more detail. Hence the student has sufficient background knowledge to adopt professional law enforcement, consulting tasks or research related to ecological status assessments. She/he should also have a capability to consider the legislative restrictions and rationales in all activities touching surface water ecosystems.
