JSBS1110 Research Methodology (4 cr)

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course provides students with basic knowledge about research methods in social science. The focus is on business research methods, scientific knowledge, paradigms, theoretical, and research constructs in international business, strategic management, and entrepreneurship research. The course aims to provide students’ a knowledge base that helps them to develop research skills and understanding on how to plan and conduct scientific research in their field of study.

On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
Build an understanding of and explain the basics of research ethics, nature of scientific knowledge, and main paradigms of science.
Build a research plan and framework and conduct data collection for both qualitative and quantitative research projects.
Build a research design that aligns with the chosen research problem and questions.
Build an understanding of how to evaluate empirical evidence, validity, and reliability of the research designs.

ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Accepted completion of the written assignments and active participation in the lectures: assessment bases on student performance in the seminars (timely completion and quality of the session assignments, participation, and contributions to the classroom discussions) and the final assignment (quality of the written assignment and presentation).

The course is only for the CEM students.
