Content
Characteristics of proteins and the methods used in their production and purification are covered in practice.
Completion methods
The course includes introduction lecture, seminars, laboratory work and report.
Assessment details
Attendance is compulsory. Grading is based on working in laboratory, seminar, laboratory logbook and report. More specific assessment criteria will be given at the beginning of the course.
Learning outcomes
After the course the student can prepare buffers, use the basic equipment in laboratory, produce protein in bacteria cells, perform chromatographic separation, SDS-PAGE electrophoresis and Western blotting. He can explain the theory of these methods, analyze the results with Excel and he understands the meaning of the results. He knows how to write laboratory logbook and report.
