This course focuses on digitalization of services. The readings are based on academic journal and conference articles. The course focuses on a critical examination and evaluation of the literature on a variety of key service research topics of today. The idea is to give you a broad understanding of the digitalization of services. The academic goal of the course is to prepare students for digitalization of services. A basic grounding in the concepts underlying research in the discipline is essential if students are to succeed in completing the graduate program. This course is designed to introduce students to digitalization of services. Students need to understand the nature of service research as a discipline and current research issues and themes. A number of current research areas will be identified and representative papers examined. The course will also apply the theoretical concepts in practice in order familiarize the students with the practical problems of digitalization of services in incumbent firms.
Completion methods
The course will use a typical master’s course format. The course consists of theoretical lectures, which are followed up by group work labs. However, it is assumed that students will participate to class discussion and prepare for each of the lectures beforehand.
