- The basic concepts and paradigms of cultural policy research
- The system of Finnish cultural policy and its development
- National and international models, actors and practices of cultural policy
- The research on cultural policy done in Finland, in particular at the JYU.

Assessment details
To get good or excellent grade student must participate the lectures and complete the written assignment (essay) on the basis of lectures and the literature. In the written work, student has to be able to give a general description what cultural policy is and which are its research approaches and topics. Student has to also focus on some particular research field of cultural policy. Important in the written work is that student links the issues from both literature and the lectures.
Following criteria is used when evaluating the written assignment:
1. General academic writing (structure, form, argumentation, logic, articulation etc.)
2. Displayed knowledge of the course material (how well the student knows the course literature and other course material).
3. Analytical capability (how well the student can use what she/he has read, as displayed in analysis and in applying theories to cases etc.).

- 4. Pacquette, Jonathan & Redaelli, Eleanora (2015): Arts Management and Cultural Policy Research.
- 2. McGuigan, Jim (2016): Neoliberal Culture.
