Content

General review of industrial manufacture of chemicals and chemical industries. The student understands the security concerns, as well as the importance of green chemistry, catalysts, and recycling in the chemical industry. Students will become familiar with industrial production processes, particularly in mining, fertilizer and petrochemical industries. The student knows the most important industrially produced chemicals and chemical groups and their production processes, properties, composition and use.

The course is accepted if 50 % of maximum points in course exam is achieved.
1 = 50-59 %
2 = 60-69 %
3 = 70-79 %
4 = 80-89 %
5 = 90-100 %

Learning outcomes

After the course, the student has an overall picture of the chemical industry, especially in Finland, but also worldwide. Students have an understanding of the importance of the safety and recycling in industrial processes. In addition, the student is familiar with the production processes of the major chemical industrial sectors as well as the manufacturing processes of industrial chemicals and chemical groups.
