The most important structural features of wood and wood fiber. The chemical composition, isolation, and analysis of the main components of wood and other biomass.

Completion methods

Exam + other assignment

Taught with 6 ECTS in 2017-2018 and 2018-2019, and with 3 ECTS in 2019-2020.

Assessment details

Passing the course requires 50 % of the maximun points of the course exam.
1 = 50-59 %
2 = 60-69 %
3 = 70-79 %
4 = 80-89 %
5 = 90-100 %

Learning outcomes

The student understands in detail the structures and characteristic features of softwood and hardwood materials. In addition, the student masters the chemical structure, amount, and distribution of the main chemical wood and is aware of versatile possibilities of isolating and characterizing these components.
