Content

Urban hydrological cycle. Physical, chemical and biological unit operations of drinking water treatment and purification of wastewater: mixing, screening, settling and filtration, chemical coagulation/flocculation, redox-reactions, disinfection and advanced techniques. Treatment of sludges. Water distribution and wastewater collection systems.

Completion methods

Lectures, calculus, seminars, exam.

Assessment details

Exam 70 %, project work 30 %.

Learning outcomes

After the course, the students know the quality and requirements of raw, drinking and wastewater and how to achieve them by physical, chemical and biological processes. The students know the water safety management and receive the official VALVIRA certificate “Vesityökortti”.
