Principles of environmental assessment, environmental impact assessment (EIA), strategic environmental assessment (SEA), environmental assessment as a part of land-use planning and permission processes, methods of multi-criteria decision analysis in environmental assessment, impact significance, cumulative impacts, comparison of alternatives, impact mitigation and monitoring

After finishing this course the student
- can describe different effects of human activities on environment
- recognizes the need for environmental impact assessment in different planning situations (large developments, strategic planning, land-use planning and permission processes)
- knows the principles and phases of environmental assessments
- is able to search and apply the most fundamental methods in environmental assessment
