The primary aim of the course is to review how Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) can both offer powerful methods to deal with loss and bereavement and to enhance compassion and psychological flexibility. The workshop will provide an opportunity to explore the human experience of traumatic loss from a contextual behavioural perspective and through self-reflection provide experiential learning opportunities to deepen personal learning. The aim is to prepare students in applying this knowledge in their future work with clients.
Completion methods
This course consists of 1) one-day workshop , 2) face-to-face peer discussion group meeting, 3) learning log, 4) essay, and 5) closing face-to-face meeting with the teachers. Students will be assigned into face-to-face peer discussion groups which aim at reflecting and exchanging ideas on the workshop theme with their peer students. Students will also have a closing face-to-face meeting with the teachers after they have completed the assignments where they reflect and discuss the workshop theme.
