Description
Content
A field course that focuses on human impact on environment. Maps and Global Positioning devices are used for planning, implementing and reporting field work and collection of samples. The samples will be analyzed in the laboratory and reported in a seminar. Environmental state will be assessed with field work that may consists of fish biology, water quality monitoring, examination of sediments and benthic animals.
Completion methods
The field course requires an active participation to all events. Field and laboratory work are done in small groups and reported in a seminar.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, a student knows basics of field work, how to collect samples from the environment and analyze those in laboratory. (S)he can apply simple methods of geoinformatics for planning and reporting of environmental research. A student can identify human impact on the environment.
Description of prerequisites
Basic studies of Bio- and Environmental Science. Safety in laboratory.
