Description

Content

The traditions and modern objectives of art education and of teaching art both internationally and in Finland, the role and meaning of art especially as part of the conventions and practices of education.

Contact teaching or independent study (i.e. an exam or an essay)

Assessment details

Active participation in teaching and completion of agreed upon exercises. The evaluation criteria will be given in more detail in the syllabus.

Learning outcomes

Having completed the study module, the student
• recognizes different approaches in teaching art,
• Is able to examine art education as part of the tradition and practices of art,
• Is able to formulate research tasks concerning art education in relation to the historical and cultural context of art education and
• Is able to plan and evaluate art education activity in accordance with the set objectives and from other perspectives.
