How to measure physical activity
Questionnaires
Accelerometer assessments
Loading impact assessments
GPS movement tracking assessments
Exercise duration and intensity assessments
Total daily energy expenditure assessments
Interpretation and clinical application of measurements of physical activities

Completion methods

Lectures and exercises/demonstrations 28 hours
Independent and group work
Active participation in the lectures and demonstrations
Examination based on set literature, writing report and presentations

Assessment details

Participation 25%, independent written report 25%, group presentation 25%, final exam 25%
Attendance 90% in order to pass the course.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course the student is able to
• describe physical activity
• use different methods to assess physical activity
• evaluate what can be measured and what can be estimated by different methods
• analyze the reliability and validity of different assessments of physical activity
