Contents:
Social theory paradigms in educational research. Classic and contemporary debates. Inequality, social justice and power in education (relating, for instance, to social class, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality), (im)migration and citizenship; education policy and governance.

- have the tools to analyse educational topics theoretically and conceptually
- better understand the relationship between education, society, and the individual
- have the analytical tools to consider and problematize contemporary educational phenomena and social challenges
- be able to compare and critically evaluate educational policies
