Content

Postgraduate-level studies arranged by the University, Faculty, Department or other organiser. The doctoral student selects the studies upon the recommendation of his/her supervisors and in compliance with his/her postgraduate study plan. Other completion modes are articles in scientific journals or other scientific publications.

The practices, text types and publishing channels of academic writing, the principles of open publishing.

Completion methods

Contact teaching, independent work/written assignment, independent work/project work and/or project work.
N.B.! Teaching language(s) are Finnish, English or other language used in publications on this discipline.

Assessment details

Pass requires, for example,
-participating in contact teaching and completing assignments that require independent work
-articles in domestic or international scientific journals
-other scientific publications

No articles or publications that are part of an (article) dissertation can be used for completing the study unit.

Learning outcomes

The doctoral student
-knows the key publication channels as well as academic text types and their writing conventions in his/her field of science
-is familiar with ethical principles related to academic writing and adheres to them
-is able to produce and edit scientific text
-knows the publishing conventions of open science and adheres to them.

Study materials

Teacher in charge of the module, course or equivalent will announce possible literature and/or other materials.
