Description

During the course, students will practice writing and editing different types of documentation. Knowing and understanding the audience is at the core of technical communication, which is why we will also cover information gathering and user profiling. Technical English differs from creative writing in many ways, which will also be discussed. The final assignment on the course is a real-life technical communication project.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students should have a solid understanding of the main principles of technical communication, including:

• User-orientation and minimalism
• Editing technical documentation
• Writing procedural documentation
• Combining graphics and text.

Contact teaching, group work, final assignment. Attendance policy: 80%.

Assessment criteria: Active participation in class, course assignments. More detailed information on the assessment criteria for each grade will be given in writing in the first meeting of the course.
